Get Smoother, Brighter Skin with Microneedling
Microneedling is one of the most effective treatments available for improving skin texture, reducing acne scars, minimizing pores, and smoothing fine lines, all without surgery or significant downtime. At Synergy Face + Body, we offer multiple microneedling options tailored to your skin goals, from medical-grade collagen induction therapy to our signature Glass Skin Luxe treatment.
Whether you’re dealing with lingering acne scars, uneven texture, stretch marks, or early signs of aging, microneedling gives your skin the push it needs to rebuild from within.
About Microneedling
Microneedling works by creating thousands of tiny, controlled micro-channels in the skin’s surface. This stimulates your skin’s natural healing response, triggering new collagen and elastin production. Over time, that process translates to smoother texture, softer scars, tighter pores, and a more even tone.
It’s a treatment that works with your skin, not against it, and the results build gradually in a way that looks natural.

Medical
Microneedling
Our medical-grade microneedling uses the Rejuvapen device, which features nine microscopic needles in a completely vertical applicator. That vertical motion minimizes trauma to the skin, resulting in a more comfortable treatment and a faster recovery compared to older microneedling devices. The Rejuvapen can reach tight areas like the crease of the nose, upper lip, and chin that other devices can’t treat as precisely. This is the right option for deeper scarring, stretch marks, and anyone who wants the most clinical approach to collagen induction therapy. Includes face and neck. Topical numbing is included.

Aesthetic
Microneedling
A lighter version of microneedling, performed with corrective topicals. This is a great add-on to any facial when you want to boost results without committing to a full medical treatment session.

Body
Microneedling
Microneedling isn’t just for the face. We treat stretch marks and textural concerns on the body as well, using corrective topicals targeted to the treatment area. A consultation is required to determine the appropriate approach for your specific concern.

Glass Skin Luxe Face + Neck
Our most elevated microneedling experience. This treatment begins with a double cleanse and topical numbing, then moves into microneedling to stimulate collagen and address fine lines and texture. From there, we apply Rejuran Healing Essence — a PDRN-based treatment derived from salmon DNA, known for its skin repair and regeneration properties — followed by a face mask and LED light therapy. The result is deep hydration, improved tone, and a visible glow that builds over time. This is the treatment for patients who want to combine the structural benefits of microneedling with intensive skin nourishment in a single session.

RF Microneedling
RF microneedling adds radiofrequency energy to the microneedling process, delivering heat into the deeper layers of the skin while the surface heals. This combination targets both texture and laxity, making it particularly effective for patients dealing with skin tightening concerns alongside scarring or texture issues. It’s suitable for all skin types and features multiple tip configurations to treat different depths and concerns. If you’re comparing microneedling options and wondering whether standard or RF is right for you, the short answer is: RF microneedling is the better choice when skin tightening is part of the goal.

What to Expect During and After Microneedling
Treatment takes about 60 to 90 minutes from start to finish, including numbing time. The sensation during treatment is a light prickly warmth — most patients find it very tolerable, especially once the numbing cream has taken effect.
Immediately after treatment, your skin will look and feel similar to a mild sunburn. Some redness and tightness is normal for the first 12 to 48 hours. During that window, your skin is more sensitive to sun and heat, so sun protection and gentle skincare are important.
Here’s a general timeline of what to expect:
Days 1 to 2: Redness and mild tightness. Skin may feel slightly rough to the touch as it begins healing. Avoid heavy workouts, direct sun exposure, and active skincare ingredients like retinol or acids during this period.
Days 3 to 5: Redness fades and skin begins to feel more normal. Some patients notice light peeling or dryness as the surface renews.
Days 5 to 7: The early glow phase. Most patients start to notice improved radiance and smoother texture during this window.
Weeks 4 to 6: Where the real results start to show. Collagen remodeling takes time, and the improvements to scarring, texture, and pore size become more visible as your skin continues to respond.
Months 2 to 3 and beyond: For patients doing a series, each subsequent treatment builds on the last. The full benefit of a series is typically visible about three months after the final session.
Microneedling for Acne Scars
Acne scars are one of the most common reasons people seek out microneedling in Raleigh, and it’s one of the areas where the treatment delivers the most meaningful results.
Different scar types respond at different rates. Rolling scars and shallow boxcar scars tend to respond well over a series of treatments as collagen fills in the depression beneath the skin. Deeper scars may require more sessions or combination treatment. During your VISIA skin analysis consultation, your provider will assess your scar type and recommend the right approach.
Most patients with acne scarring see noticeable improvement after three to four sessions, with continued improvement over the following months as collagen remodeling continues.
Microneedling vs. Other Treatments
Microneedling vs. microdermabrasion: Microdermabrasion works at the very surface of the skin, polishing away dead cells for an immediate brightness. Microneedling goes deeper, stimulating collagen production in the dermis. If your goal is long-term improvement to scars, texture, or tone rather than a quick refresh, microneedling produces more significant and lasting results.
Microneedling vs. chemical peels: Peels address texture and pigmentation through controlled exfoliation. They can be excellent for hyperpigmentation and mild texture concerns. Microneedling is generally the stronger option for acne scarring and patients looking to build collagen over time. In many cases, we recommend alternating between the two for comprehensive results.
Microneedling vs. RF microneedling: Standard microneedling stimulates collagen through the physical micro-channels created by the needles. RF microneedling adds heat energy to the equation, going deeper into the skin to also address laxity and firmness. If you’re treating texture or scars alone, standard microneedling is effective. If skin tightening is also a concern, RF microneedling is worth the step up.
Microneedling vs. laser treatments: Lasers like MOXI and Halo resurface the skin through light energy, often addressing pigment and tone more aggressively than microneedling. For some patients, a combination approach — microneedling for scar structure and a laser for tone and pigment — delivers the most comprehensive result. Your provider can help you map out the right sequence if you’re considering both.
Why Patients Choose Synergy Face + Body for Microneedling in Raleigh
Synergy has been the Triangle’s most recognized med spa for over a decade, with locations in North Raleigh, Inside the Beltline, Cary, and Wake Forest. A few things that set our microneedling program apart:
We start with a VISIA skin analysis. Before treatment, we assess your skin at a level the naked eye can’t see — analyzing texture, pores, pigmentation, and scarring across different skin layers. That data shapes your treatment plan, including needle depth, settings, and which add-ons will move the needle for your specific concerns.
We offer more microneedling options than most. Medical microneedling, aesthetic microneedling, body microneedling, Glass Skin Luxe, and RF microneedling — not many practices in the Triangle offer the full range under one roof.
Your provider is the same person each visit. Continuity matters in aesthetic care. Your provider tracks how your skin responds across sessions and adjusts accordingly.

FAQs
Each person’s skin conditions are different and require different levels of treatment. Those with mild wrinkles and fine lines may see improvement after just one treatment while more advanced skin conditions like acne scarring may need more than one session. The number of treatment sessions required will be determined during a consultation with your expert provider.
While the device is important for the effectiveness of the microneedling treatment, the other factor to note is the depth of the treatment. In order to receive maximum results, deeper treatments that go beyond a 1.0 depth are required, and for the comfort factor of the patient a topical numbing agent will be applied. Unless microneedling is performed at a medical-grade level with a topical numbing agent, results can not be guaranteed. Make sure to inquire about the treatment depth and certification of the provider prior to selecting a facility for microneedling in Raleigh.
The main distinction between the two is the depth at which the device is penetrating the skin. When you see a licensed aesthetics professional, you ensure that you get the right depth of treatment needed for your skin in a safe and sanitary environment.
