Treatment Options

As each individual is different, Dr. Hughes will discuss various treatment options within your consultation, such as Suction-Assisted Liposuction, Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction, and Laser-Assisted Liposuction. A liposuction procedure involves a cannula (straw) to be inserted into a small incision next to the desired treatment area. The straw suctions up the fat that is within the surrounding area.

Suction-Assisted Liposuction

The most traditional form of lipectomy breaks up the fat and uses a high-negative-pressure vacuum to remove the fat through a hollow instrument inserted beneath the skin.

Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction

Ultrasound technology – high-pitched sound waves – is employed to heat the fat and “melt” it into a more easily removable emulsion for suctioning. This can reduce discomfort, promote a faster recovery – and produce great results.

Laser-Assisted Liposuction

A minimal invasion treatment generally requiring only local anesthesia. You may have heard terms like ProLipo PLUS™ from Sciton. A laser fiber is introduced through a small cannula, delivering energy directly to subcutaneous fat cells-to disrupt them. The emitted energy also coagulates tissue, thus inducing collagen retraction and tissue tightening. This allows less bruising and recovery time.

Fat Transfer: Lose it + Use it

Fat transfer is a procedure in which fat is removed by liposuction from an unwanted area of the body (usually the stomach, flanks or thighs). It is then purified and transferred to the desired body area such as the breasts or buttocks to replace fat and collagen lost over time.⁣ The result is a fuller, softer, smoother contoured figure after a fat transfer.

At Synergy Face + Body Plastic Surgery, we use the Wells Johnson™ High Volume Precision Auto-Graft System, designed to keep harvested fat sterile and safely contained from start to finish to provide long-lasting results for our patients.

Fat Permanently Removed

Fat cells that are removed within the process don’t reappear. Although, it’s important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regime to keep new fat cells away.
