My Go-To Skin Booster

By Emily T., Aesthetics Trainer & Social Media Manager

One of the questions I get asked most often is, “What do you do for your skin?” My answer is always the same: I believe in high-quality treatments that are backed by science, and I never recommend anything I wouldn’t use myself. Before you decide to get a skin booster injection, check out my guide to skin boosters and what treatments complement them!

What Is a Skin Booster?

Also called glow-boosters, skin boosters are gel-like substances that are injected into the upper dermis (your middle layer of skin) to rejuvenate and hydrate skin.

These treatments are designed to enhance skin tone, firmness, and hydration without altering the face’s natural structure, making them distinct from traditional fillers or other cosmetic procedures. Skin boosters work by replenishing the skin’s moisture, stimulating collagen production, and providing nourishment to combat the effects of aging and skin damage.

Unlike other treatments, which focus on volume or wrinkle reduction, skin boosters target the skin’s texture and hydration, giving it a youthful glow and improved smoothness. As a result, we often recommend skin boosters to clients who are looking for non-invasive ways to enhance their skin’s appearance and health.

What Do Skin-Boosters Inject Into Skin?

Typically, hyaluronic acid (HA) is the primary substance used in skin boosters. Since HA excels at attracting and binding water, it helps hydrate the skin and give it a more glowing appearance. While HA is the traditional choice, platelet-rich plasma, calcium hydroxyapatite, and polynucleotides are also used in some skin boosting products.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is derived from the patient’s own blood and is used to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and brighten your complexion. It is particularly beneficial for individuals seeking skin rejuvenation and improved elasticity.

Calcium hydroxyapatite, found in Radiesse, is effective for stimulating collagen and addressing deeper wrinkles and sagging skin. It is ideal for those with more advanced signs of aging.

Lastly, polynucleotides, derived from salmon DNA, focus on promoting collagen formation, enhancing skin regeneration, and accelerating healing. These effects make them especially helpful for individuals looking to improve skin texture and accelerate repair, especially for those with damaged or inflamed skin. These alternatives may be used alone or in combination with hyaluronic acid, depending on the desired outcome.

Why Rejuran Is My Go-To Glow Booster

I recently had another Glass Skin Treatment, which features the Rejuran serum, and it has really enhanced the texture and hydration of my skin. Rejuran is made from polynucleotides (often called “salmon DNA”) and works to deeply repair and rejuvenate the skin at a cellular level. It boosts hydration, calms inflammation, strengthens the skin barrier, and improves elasticity.

This treatment is especially helpful for thin or crepey skin and can be used on the face, neck, or under the eyes. I like to think of it as giving your skin a reboot and bringing it back to its healthiest, most resilient state. It pairs beautifully with lasers and microneedling, taking the results to the next level.

What Other Skin Treatments Pair Well With Rejuran?

Part of my routine for achieving glowing skin is to pair Rejuran with non-ablative laser and RF microneedling treatments. Review two of my favorite treatments that complement skin boosters like Rejuran below:

Moxi: The Gentle but Powerful Refresher

Moxi is a perfect starter laser because it’s gentle, effective, and works for just about everyone. It uses a non-ablative laser to create tiny controlled injuries in the skin that stimulate collagen and improve overall tone and texture. This collagen-boosting skin care treatment helps reduce early signs of sun damage, uneven pigmentation, and dullness, leaving your skin looking refreshed and brighter.

It’s great for prevention and maintenance and is especially popular with patients who want visible results but can’t afford a lot of downtime. You’ll be a little pink and “sandpapery” for a few days, but you can wear makeup within 24 hours.

RF Microneedling: Lift and Tighten from Within

If you are starting to notice skin laxity, fine lines, or rough texture, Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling is one of the best tools we have. This treatment combines traditional microneedling (which creates tiny channels in the skin) with radiofrequency energy, which is delivered deep into the tissue to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

The result is firmer, smoother, and more lifted skin over time. It’s great for treating acne scars, crepey skin, and even subtle sagging in the jawline or around the eyes. Most patients need a few treatments for the best results, and the improvement continues to build for months.

Tips for Maximizing Skin Booster Injections

  • Results take consistency. A single treatment is a great start, but true transformation comes from a series. Think of it like building strength at the gym. Your skin gets better and better with time and care.
  • Sun protection is essential. No matter what treatments you’re doing, daily SPF is a must. Combine it with a wide-brimmed hat and seeking shade, and you’ll protect your ‘skinvestment’ for the long haul. At Synergy, we offer several medical-grade options from Revision and EltaMD.
