Part 1: Men’s Face Treatments

Men, doesn’t it seem like plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments are only meant for women? Well, this is one of the most common misconceptions out there. In truth, men are just as good a candidate as women are for many cosmetic procedures. Whether you are frustrated with the appearance of your face or your body, there is a treatment for you.

Over the next two blogs, we will explore some of the different treatments (both surgical and non-surgical) that can help you achieve the face and body you’ve always wanted.

Treatments for the Male Face

It goes without saying that the look and feel of the face are extremely important. Not only is your face your most visible feature, but it can affect your sense of confidence for your entire appearance. Whether from age, lifestyle, or life choices, many men feel self-conscious about the way their faces look. The good news is that any or all of the following treatments can help rejuvenate and restore your face so that you feel comfortable with the way you look.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

Dynamic wrinkles are creases in the skin that are caused by consistent muscle contraction. Some of the most common places on the face for these types of wrinkles, include: around the eyes, on the forehead, and between the brows.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the most well-known cosmetic treatments available, and it is so popular because the results achieved from this treatment are transformative. This injectable treatment temporarily blocks signals sent from the nerves in the muscles to the brain, essentially paralyzing the treated area for a short period of time. Since dynamic wrinkles are caused by muscle contractions, when the muscles are paralyzed, they cannot contract, which means that you will not have to worry about those unsightly wrinkles. Instead, you will be left with a more youthful appearance.

Dermal Fillers

Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers are injectable treatments; however, dermal fillers not only address wrinkles and fine lines on the skin but can also help to restore volume loss in the skin (especially in the cheeks and under the eyes). The active ingredient in most fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), which attracts and retains moisture in the skin.

At Synergy Face + Body, we are proud to offer the JUVÉDERM® Collection of Fillers. Each of these injectable fillers targets different areas of the face to help you achieve the youthful and healthy aesthetic you desire. The HA lifts and fills the areas of the face that appear gaunt and worn out.

KYBELLA®

One of the most masculine features of men’s faces is a strong jawline. However, excess skin and fat can hide the jaw and cause jowls to appear. Whether you struggle with skin laxity or a “double chin,” KYBELLA® can help you achieve a more contoured jawline. After your KYBELLA® treatment, you can feel confident in the way others see you.

Acne

We tend to think that acne is only something that teenagers have to deal with; however, as many adults know, acne is an ongoing frustration. While there are numerous creams and treatments available, one of the most effective ways to achieve clear and blemish-free skin is with BBL™. BBL™ (BroadBand Light) is a non-invasive treatment that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to target the sebaceous glands. By doing this, acne-causing bacteria are destroyed and removed from your skin. Additionally, this treatment helps to increase the production of skin cells so that you have more refreshed and rejuvenated skin after your treatment.

PRP for Hair Restoration

Many men attribute their masculinity to their hair, which means that thinning hair or a balding scalp can cause feelings of self-consciousness or embarrassment. One of the most effective treatments for hair restoration is PRP injections.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is a natural solution that uses your own blood to help restore damaged hair follicles so that you can grow healthier, fuller hair over time. For this procedure, blood is extracted from your body. This blood is then placed in a centrifuge machine to isolate the PRP. This PRP is then injected directly into your scalp to promote healthy hair growth.

Blepharoplasty

While we tend not to think about our eyelids, the truth is that this part of our face plays a major part in our facial aesthetic. Whether you suffer from sagging or droopy eyelids or puffiness and bags under the eyes, your eyelids can make you look older, more tired, and angrier than you actually are. The good news is that eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) can help you achieve a more youthful facial appearance.

You can either choose to have upper blepharoplasty (which corrects issues in the upper eyelids), lower blepharoplasty (which corrects concerns in the lower eyelids), or a combination of both. For this procedure, your cosmetic surgeon will make an incision in the area (either in the natural creases of the eyelids, inside the eyes, or just below the lower lashes). Then, muscle, fat, and tissue are repositioned and excess skin is surgically removed. Once your eyelid procedure is complete, your entire face can be transformed.
