With autumn in full swing, many of us are looking forward to cooler weather, colorful foliage and the invasion of pumpkin spice everything. The changing of the seasons also offers an opportunity to improve your appearance by reversing any sun damage you accumulated over the summer.
If you’re noticing the effects of a little too much fun in the sun over the summer, you’re far from being alone. In fact, exposure to the sun is to blame for most of the wrinkles and age spots that appear on our faces. Over time, the sun’s ultraviolet light damages skin fibers called elastin, which are responsible for the skin’s ability to literally bounce back from stretching and contracting. When our elastin fibers break down, the skin begins to sag and stretch as it loses its elasticity. This means sun damage acquired in your younger years catches up to you as you get older.
Have the cumulative effects of sun damage started to make you feel dissatisfied with what you see when you look in the mirror? It might be time to consider one or more of our rejuvenating skin treatments for sun damage.
Laser Skin Care
- Sciton BBL
If you’re looking to remove sun damage while rejuvenating your skin for an overall more youthful appearance, Sciton BBL laser may be the solution you need. At Synergy Spa & Aesthetics, we offer Sciton BBL laser treatment options for face, neck, chest, back, arms and hands.
- Forever Bright BBL
Forever Bright BBL (also known as intense pulsed light, or IPL) is a groundbreaking technology for reversing sun damage and aging. With IPL, we can tailor your treatment to match your skin type and your desired results, and combat the cumulative effects of UV rays on different areas of your body. The most popular treatment areas are on the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.
- Forever Young BBL
Forever Young BBL addresses the underlying layers of patients’ skin, where the majority of aging occurs. This laser treatment is the only device that accurately targets the expression of skin molecules associated with aging, stimulating your body’s natural ability to regenerate healthy, new skin. Forever Young BBL is a combination of Forever Bright, with added components targeting wrinkling and loose skin. It functionally rejuvenates skin and helps halt and reverse the aging process, leading to smoother, younger-looking skin.
- NanoLaserPeel or NanoLaserPeel Plus
Also called the “weekend” skin peel for its minimal healing time, the NanoLaserPeel is ideal for patients with sun-damaged skin and premature skin aging who want to look great without worrying about downtime. The NanoLaserPeel is a minimally invasive peel for anyone who wants the benefits of light skin rejuvenation. The NanoLaserPeel provides deeper resurfacing than microdermabrasion, with the same positive effect on skin as three to five microdermabrasion sessions. You can expect to see results after only one treatment, with additional treatments if desired to maintain a more youthful appearance.
The MicroLaser Peel skin resurfacing system is a medium-depth treatment that ablates the top layer of the epidermis, taking away dull or tired-looking skin while improving skin tone and texture and removing signs of sun damage and aging. The MicroLaserPeel stimulates new, healthy skin cells to re-grow as part of the healing process, which improves the overall appearance of the skin.
- ProFractional Therapy
ProFractional is another ablative skin treatment that boosts the body’s production of new skin cells as part of the natural healing response. The benefits of ProFractional include increased patient comfort, shorter healing times and customizable results that can range from subtle to dramatic.
Previous lasers couldn’t effectively remove the accumulated damage of years of sun exposure, such as sun spots and fine lines. Halo eliminates years of damage by precisely targeting the right depth, resulting in younger-looking and more luminous skin.
Halo treatments offer outstanding results with minimal downtime by combining deep dermal rejuvenation with epidermal renewal.
Halo precisely targets years of damage to your skin, including:
- Sun damage
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Visible signs of aging
- Uneven skin tone
- Enlarged pores
- Poor texture
- Synergy Micropeel
The Micropeel is a three-step clinical procedure combining dermaplaning, chemical exfoliation and cryogenic therapy to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, laxity, dullness and skin imperfections.
- Level 1 Skin Peels
Our simplest and most superficial skin peels remove the top layer of cells to stimulate rapid skin rejuvenation. These peels include medical grade, un-buffered glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid and/or mandelic acid.
- Level II Skin Peels
These treatments penetrate deeper than our Level 1 peels for minor to moderate exfoliation. These peels include 20 percent salicylic acid, 50 percent glycolic acid, 70 percent glycolic acid or double-layered peels.
- Level III Skin Peel
Our deepest level of peels works slightly deeper than Level II peels. At this level, we recommend a prerequisite of a minimum of two Level II peels and the use of proper pre-prep home care products and procedures before undergoing a Level III peel. Proper pre-prepping will minimize your downtime; however, some patients experience minor crusting, darkening of brown spots until they peel, redness and moderate peeling of the skin two to three days following the procedure that may last up to a week.
Dermaplaning is an advanced form of manual exfoliation that can be used with or without chemicals, as treatment does not require downtime.
This anti-inflammatory and antibacterial freezing procedure immediately increases the rate of cell turnover and leaves skin feeling cool and tight. In the process, oil, dirt, debris are lifted away from pores and dead skin cells are exfoliated, which smoothes the appearance of the skin.
